GANI ADAMS INSTALLED AS THE ARE ONA KAKANFO OF YORUBA LAND

Oyo state is agog as a former leader of the Oodua People Congress, a yoruba group, is being installee the 15th Are Ona Kakanfo. The event held at Durbar stadium, Oyo, which was filled to capacity.

He went into seclusion ahead of the inauguration,thanked the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi for finding him worthy of the exalted position. 

 His full Speech below:

"There cannot be a more humbling occasion for me as the one we are in today. 

Against the back drop of the size of the office the Iku Baba Yeye, His imperial Majesty, the Alaafin Of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Atanda Adeyemi lll, has bestowed on me and the larger than life image of mp predecessors, my installation as the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo is a challenging that has made all past challenges seem like a child's play. 

Though I am just stepping into the office,past occupants of the street, especially the 13th and 14th occupation brought so much power and glamour to the office that it is obvious I have alot of work to do. As astute businessman and politicians of note, they raised the profile of the office.

The event is witnessed by Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state, Former governors Adebayo Alao - Akala,Olusegun Mimiko and Emmanuel Uduaghan of Oyo,Ondo and Delta respectively.

Similarly, thousands of OPC members, as well as Odua People Union, OPC are attending.

 The title has been described as the Yoruba "generalissimo".

The ceremony has started with the rendition of the National Anthem, as cultural troupes from Oyo,Osun,Lagos  and Ondo states entertain guests.
